Middle Eastern Maamoul

Fragrant and delicious Maamoul filled with luscious date paste and nutty goodness.

    Preheat the oven to 175°C.

    In a large bowl, mix flour, sesame seeds, sugar, salt, and baking powder together.

    Add butter ghee and mix for 15 minutes.

    Gradually add milk to the mixture and mix well to combine.

  5. 5

    Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes.

    Mix pistachios, almonds, syrup, and rose water together until moistened.

    Roll the dough into balls and press your thumb into the ball to create space for the filling.

    Stuff the dough with date paste or mixed nuts and pinch the dough over it to seal.

    Cover the maamoul molds for 15 minutes.

    Bake the maamoul at 175°C for 15 to 20 minutes.

    Cool the maamoul and sprinkle powdered sugar on the top.
