German Apple Crumble Pie
A unique take on the famous german pie done on the stove to save you the time and effort

Preheat the oven to 175˚C.

Peel, core, and cut the apples into cubes. Transfer them to a mixing bowl, add lemon juice, and toss together.

Place a frying pan on medium-low heat. Add sugar and heat it until a syrup is formed. Add butter to the pan and mix constantly until it dissolves.

Pour the apple pieces into the mixture, add cinnamon, and toss to combine. Set aside to cool.

For the crumb: Beat an egg in a small bowl. Add vanilla sugar or extract, sugar, and beat well. Sieve the flour and baking powder into the mixture. Using your hands, make crumbs. The crumble mixture is ready when all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed and crumbs of different sizes have formed.

Grease a cake pan with butter and line the bottom with parchment paper. Divide the crumbles to ¾ and add ⅔ portion to the pan. Press with the end of a glass cup, then work the dough up the sides to avoid the apple filling from bubbling out when baking.

Add the prepared apple mixture to the dough and then cover the filling with the remaining crumble.

Place in the preheated oven and bake at 175°C for 20-25 minutes or until the crumbles start to turn golden brown.
