In a bowl, combine ground beef with 1/2 cup diced onions, parsley, bread crumbs, 1 tsp chopped garlic, egg, and 1 tsp each of garlic powder, five-spice, black pepper, paprika, and salt.

Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and pulse until well combined, then shape into small meatballs.

Heat 1/2 cup oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the meatballs until browned on all sides, then remove and set aside.

In a clean pan, heat 1/4 cup oil over high heat. Sauté 1/4 cup diced onions until they begin to soften.
