Golden Bechamel Pasta Dish

Chop onions and dice peppers.

Place a pot on the cooker over medium heat. Pour in 4 tablespoons of oil, add ground beef and diced onion, and mix. Cook until golden, then add tomato sauce.

Add 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, allspice, paprika, and ½ teaspoon sugar to the sauce. Mix well. Add diced peppers, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.

Place a pot on the cooker. Pour in 6 cups of water, add 1 tablespoon of oil and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil, then add Penne pasta. Stir and cook for 15 minutes or until cooked, then drain.

Preparing the béchamel sauce: Pour milk into a pot, add 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes or until the butter melts. Add 1 cup of flour and whisk until thickened. Break in 1 egg and mix, then set aside.

In the pot with the cooked pasta, add 1 cup of béchamel sauce, 1 cracked egg, ⅓ of pasta sauce, and 1 cup of shredded cheese. Mix well.

In a buttered oven pan, layer ⅓ cup of béchamel sauce, pasta, pasta sauce, ground beef mixture, pasta, and béchamel sauce. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.

Place in the middle rack of the oven and bake for 40 minutes at 175°C (350°F).
